Students are chosen through a collaborative process involving previous and current classroom teachers, parents, the principal, and the learning support teachers. Observation, classroom performance, and informal and formal testing are used to determine academic needs and set individual educational goals.

Student instruction occurs in a one-on-one or small group setting in the learning support classrooms.  Priority given to match a student’s schedule in terms of subject and timing.  In some cases, learning support happens  within a student’s classroom. 

The learning support teachers will also be available to classroom teachers to provide guidance in meeting the needs of students who do not qualify for resource room instruction.

In addition, the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) provides reading and math help, speech therapy and guidance services.
