At Saint Mary Catholic School, reading is encouraged through classroom library time, Reading Olympics, Accelerated Reader, and across all curriculum subjects.
School students may choose to enter Reading Olympics competitions organized by the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU). Elementary and Middle school teams collectively read from a long list of books, are paired up against other schools, and compete to answer questions about these books. Reading Olympics student teams earn ribbons based upon their total points earned throughout the competition.
Research and writing are required to be submitted in MLA (Modern Language Association) format. Link to the Online Writing Lab by clicking on the OWL logo.
